Interior Design by Emily is a locally owned interior design studio and retail shop in Downtown Decorah, Iowa. Our days can include everything from helping customers and styling the shop to creating social media content, unpacking new products, preparing for events, and working behind the scenes on interior design projects.

We're a small business—which means everyone pitches in, no two days look exactly alike, and we're looking for people who take pride in what they do.

Retail + Design Studio Assistant

Part-Time or Seasonal | 1 - 3 Days Per Week

Looking for a fun, flexible part-time position in a creative environment?

Interior Design by Emily is looking for a friendly, dependable person to help in our Downtown Decorah shop 1-3 days per week, with occasional weekends and special events.

This could be a great fit for someone who enjoys home décor, likes visiting with customers, takes pride in a job well done, and is looking for a little something extra to do each week.

What You’ll Help With

  • Greeting and helping customers
  • Running the checkout
  • Unpacking and putting out new merchandise
  • Keeping displays stocked, tidy, and looking great
  • Helping create or refresh store displays
  • Preparing online orders and customer pickups
  • Taking an occasional product photo or video for social media
  • Helping with store events and seasonal open houses
  • Light organizing and assistance with design projects
  • Pitching in wherever an extra set of hands is needed

You Don’t Need Design Experience!

We’re happy to teach you what you need to know.

We’re really looking for someone who is:

If you enjoy people, have an interest in all things home and aren’t afraid to jump in when something needs to be done, you may be exactly who we’re looking for.

Experience with retail, decorating, social media, or customer service is wonderful—but it’s not required.

The Schedule

Approximately 1–3 days per week, with occasional weekends or evenings for store events.

This position may also be a great fit for someone looking for seasonal hours or a flexible part-time position.
